Oprea House
Formally opened on September 23, 1901, the Cadillac Opera House soon became a standout in the theater world - serving a wide, wild and appreciative audience throughout the Cadillac area. Original New York casts, studded with such famous names as "naughty" Eva Tanguay, Elsie Ferguson, William Farnum, Favorsham (the John Barrymore of his time), and many others, trod the boards to face some 700 people in the old Cadillac Opera House. ARTISTS ASSOCIATION
The Cadillac Area Artists Association is dedicated to encouraging area artists, providing programs for continuing education, and promoting their work through its exhibitions. For additional information call Phyllis Olson, 775-7853.

CADILLAC AREA
COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS
The Cadillac Area Council for the Arts is an organization created to help determine the cultural needs of the greater Cadillac area and to develop and implement programs to meet those needs. The city government in 1968 created it. It has attempted to provide programs for the community, encompassing all disciplines of art as well as to encourage and aid individual member groups in their efforts to secure suitable art facilities. All energies are used to develop the cultural resources of the area. The Council consists of representatives of community arts agencies and members-at-large who are interested individuals from the greater Cadillac area. It is always open to participation in the arts and promotion of the arts. For additional information write P. O. Box 612, Cadillac, MI 49601.

CADILLAC GARDEN CLUB
The Garden Club, chartered in 1992, is a member of the Federated Garden Clubs of Michigan. It is an active club whose goals include working in areas of horticulture, nature conservation, art and landscape design. Many members are master gardeners and flower judges. Local projects include landscaping at the Wexford County Historical Museum and at various Habitate for Humanity locations. For more information call Jo Ann Keith at (231) 775-4905. SCANDINAVIAN SOCIETY
The Scandinavian Society seeks to foster and preserve the cultural heritage of the Scandinavian countries, to educate the general public about these customs and practices, and to provide fellowship among those who are dedicated to the preservation of these ethnic values. CADILLAC AREA SYMPHONY
ORCHESTRA BOARD
The Cadillac Symphony Orchestra is a highly talented group of local and outstate musicians numbering up to 70 artists. Their purpose is to provide beautiful and challenging music for the community. The Cadillac Symphony Board of Directors is a non-profit entity whose main purpose is to support the conductor and the orchestra. The Board membership consists of between 15-18 volunteers, who also strive to provide music education and experiences for local school students and to contribute to the Cadillac String Association whenever possible. A member of the Cadillac Area Council of the Arts, the orchestra's income is derived from generous donations and ticket sales. For further information, please contact Margie Annis, 231-775-6004.

PHILHARMONIC CLUB
The Cadillac Philharmonic Club is a music club devoted to the study and encouragement of American musical artists. For more information on the club and its activities, contact Barb Johnson, 775-3797.

CADILLAC COMMUNITY CHORUS
(Formerly the Cadillac “Feel Good” Community Chorus)
The chorus, consisting of both male and female voices, was originated by Ms. Karen Miller in 2002 beginning with less than a dozen voices. In 2006 Dave Buckley assumed the role as chorus director. It has since grown to nearly 50 members and prides itself on singing in a wide variety of styles appealing to all ages. Rehearsals begin on Monday, April 21, 2008, from 7:00 to 9:00p.m. at St. Ann’s Church and continuing until our annual concert in September. The Chorus also performs throughout the summer, schedule to be announced. New singers are welcome, especially tenors and basses. COMMUNITY THEATRE
Footliters Community Theatre, in its 23rd season, is a member of the Community Theater Association of Michigan. Everyone is encouraged to volunteer to be the actors, singers, dancers, directors, set designers, light and sound technicians and other support people that are needed to produce the plays. GOPHERWOOD
FOLK SOCIETY
The Gopherwood Folk Society promotes traditional music and other traditional arts (dances, folk art) in the greater Cadillac area by sponsoring concerts, house concerts, dances and workshops, and by supporting area folk musicians and artists. NATIONAL MUSIC CAMP
INTERLOCHEN ARTS ACADEMY
Located only a pleasant 35 minutes from Cadillac, this world treasure is in our backyard. The summer Arts Festivals 8 weeks of exciting and inspiring events. Over 450 programs by students, faculty, and internationally known artists, concerts, recitals, and rehearsals. Theatre productions including Broadway musicals, opera, and Shakespean plays, Ballet and modern dance concerts along with art exhibits.. For information call 231-276-9221.

EVENING OF MUSIC CHARITY SERIES
Cadillac's First Congregational Church has initiated a musical charity event series where a number of local musicians and artists are invited to perform various selections of their choice at each event. The admission proceeds are then divided equally amongst the entertainers and forwarded in their name to a local charity or church of their choosing. This has become a very popular event taking place twice a year; in the spring and again in the fall. Any muscians or artists interested in participating are asked to please telephone 775 7774.

WEXFORD COUNTY
HISTORICAL SOCIETY MUSEUM
The Wexford County Historical Society operates a museum in the old Carnegie Library as part of its purpose of preserving local heritage for the education and enjoyment of the community. The Society also sponsors a number of other programs designed to preserve and encourage awareness of the history of the Wexford County area.
